Question 1

Consider an autonomous vacuum cleaner (a battery powered robot) equipped with a camera. The robot minimises the length of its path to cover the whole floor of an unknown room, which contains a table, four chairs, a sofa and two book shelves.

(a) Describe a computer vision pipeline that produces a map of the room to enable the vacuum cleaner to autonomously navigate the available space. Discuss the main design choices.[15 marks]
