The paper talks about the resurrection of Jesus and how he came to people, especially his apostles to show them that He has indeed, been resurrected. It is talks about the surprise of the people in front of whom He appears, and how they are initially unable to recognize Him, but then with each instance, Jesus reveals Himself and then disappears from in front of them. With each encounter, He commissioned the apostles to preach the gospel to the world, and get the information and knowledge across to as many people as possible.

The interpretation of the narrative that is shown in this book about the resurrection of Jesus can be divided into two sides from the theological perspective.  宗教文学代写

One side consisted of liberals, whereas the other side consisted of fundamentalists. According to Crossan, “Christian faith is always 1) an act of faith 2) in the historical Jesus 3) as the manifestation of God,” (J. D. Crossan). Stephen Patterson agreed with the description of Crossan and approved the aforementioned description. Most if these scholars have gone on the quest for Jesus in order to determine what He said and did during after being resurrected and after that what was taught by the Early Church about Him.

“For most of us who assemble in the name of Jesus, he is dead. His words and deeds mean little to us, if anything at all. We do not look to Jesus for a way of life, but for salvation. “He died that we might live.” Indeed. It seems we have to kill him in order that we might live whatever lives our power and privilege allow us to live. When real life is at stake, most of us will take personal salvation over the empire of God any day,” (Patterson, 2004).

According to Tom Wright, “one cannot separate the resurrection from early Christianity without distorting the Christian worldview,” (Stewart, 2006).

He believed that the metaphorical description was incorrect and that these events took place. According to Crossan, the first couple of followers of Jesus, who are famously known as the Apostles never really knew anything about the details of His crucifixion, death or even burial. So the events that have been described are not the true history remembered, rather it is fabricated into a prophesized history. He says that history was invented, and that the actual prophecy was hidden, and fabricated truth was spread far and wide, that is how Christianity spread so fast, and the believers emerged.

I must say that the argument he uses might be partly able to persuade some people, however, I must say that the examples Wright used were far more persuasive. According to him, there is evidence that the events that have been communicated truly did transpire and that the resurrection did take place. This can be noticed from the fact that he states that Early Christians believe that Jesus was raised bodily from the dead. And unless this is not the truth, then it would not make sense either theologically or even historically.

Wright believes that it is inconceivable that worship of Jesus could take place as it did apart from a literal resurrection of Jesus (Wright, 2006). And this is something that I must agree with, because numerous facts state that people during that time did not believe in things unless they occurred in front of them. So, it is not possible, that all this is a fabricated lie. Even though Crossan firmly believes that it is made up, in order to pass on the views of one, and make people believe, however, though Wright is of the opinion that people during that age would not have risked their lives to put ideas in people’s minds.
