Factors that aroused antagonism against immigrants  Dillingham Commission代写

The primary reason for opposing immigrants was fear of losing American identity. If many immigrants were allowed, the native Americans would have lost their cultural and racial identity. Immigrants were also considered security threats since the numbers were increasing in cities. Most especially Italians, Chinese, Irish, and Germans were considered burden to the economy.

Negative views against immigrants  Dillingham Commission代写

Irish were referred to as apes. Italians were called street filth and Chinese as parasites locusts. All immigrants were considered inferior, illiterates and could not contribute anything to grow the economy.

The rationale for controlling immigration  Dillingham Commission代写

There was no other legitimate manner on which immigrants could have been handled without displaying racism. The immigrants were too many, and the issue needed an emergency solution.

Dear Sir

RE: GRIEVANCES RACIST CARTOONS

About your humor magazine Puck, there is a cartoon that appeared on 4th August 1913 that had racist connotations against immigrants. The comics are likely to cause trigger racial hatred that can culminate in violence.

Please consider reviewing your policies on publishing humor cartoons in your next feature.

Dear Madam

RE: PEOPLE ATTITUDE TOWARDS IMMIGRANTS

I am writing to inform you of the existence of parallels in people’s attitudes toward immigrants back in the time of Dillingham and the Quota System and views of people today.

People and the government had a bad attitude towards immigrants in 20th century.  Dillingham Commission代写

Policies and views were made to lock them from assimilation. Policy like Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 aimed to restrict ethnic groups from entering America. Another Act of 1917 was enacted to people with particular features like illiterate, the “feeble-minded,” and homosexuals from entering the country. Government actions led people to perceive immigrants in negative ways, referring to them as “a hopeless burden.” Some images showed fear and portray immigrants as burden.

It is the same case today.  Dillingham Commission代写

Just like in the 20th century, Americans view immigrants as coming to take their opportunities, such as employment. Trump’s administration is enacting policies that will make it difficult for people to enter United States. A parallelism exists between the history and today. It exists in both because American government has never succeeded in assimilating immigrants in country. Also, little is being done to elevate its neighboring economically and politically.
