Both countries have a distance-based tolling system which has worked well for the betterment of the whole sector. Not only is the tolling system beneficial to the government but it also gives businesses a metric for measuring their transport costs. If the system is adopted correctly, it can have a positive impact on improving logistics efficiency and freight transport.
To comment disadvantages of tolling to drivers, it is not arguable in economic terms. The reason being, the government have not implemented toll fees on all roads. There are freeways for those who considered toll roads expensive. Here, a consumer considers the opportunity cost of the best alternative and takes the one with the least costs. In fact, this was the main intent of tolling policy; to have people consider cheaper methods of transport and subsequently ease traffic on the roads.

I concur with your argument in support of the tolling system. The United States has benefited a lot especially in the development of highways. One is to have a prepaid card that drivers load for toll transactions and the other one is to have monthly billing of toll. Either way, one can choose for convenience.
