Was the American Dream Realized at the Expense of the Black American?
Was the American Dream Realized at the Expense of the Black American? The American Dream was synonymous to the immigrants to the United States.
The American Dream was synonymous to the immigrants to the United States. But to most, the dream was never realised. Instead they were met with poverty and marginalisation. The experience of immigrants is not new in United States. Since the time of slavery, Black American and other non-native have undergoing challenges socially, economically, and politically. Many debates have emerged regarding the assimilation of the immigrants on one end and perpetuation of native supremacist on the other end. Researches have been conducted on how discrimination, segregation, and slavery have impacted on Black Americans. However, there is need to have a consensus on whether the American Dream was achieved at the expense of Black American and if reparation is the way to make up for the historical injustices and hence an environment of reconciliation and racial neutrality in the United States.

Statement of the Problem
A recent report indicates that the United States need to pay for historical injustices to the Black American. The report is not binding to feral government but is construed to be path towards a reconciled society. There is, therefore, a need for research to inquire about the views of the American citizens on the report findings.

Review of the Topic
Regarding the movies “Prince Among Slaves” Rahman underwent injustices which included slavery, segregation, imprisonment and discriminations (Duke, 2008). It led to him being the denied human rights like freedom health, good life and free from servitude. The film depicts the conditions that slaves underwent in America. The sentiments in the movie were in line with the debate James Baldwin and William F. Buckley where Baldwin was given a standing ovation for his views on Blacks and other immigrants being used for the achievement of American Dream which they never had freedom to enjoy (Warner, 2012). Baldwin stated that were not for cheap and free labour from Black, most infrastructural developments and industries would not have been a reality.
The report by United Nation’s report as reported by Tharoor through The Washington Post shows that history of slavery in the United States justify reparations for African American. The report stated that the “legacy of colonial history, enslavement, racial subordination, and segregation, racial terrorism and racial inequality in the U.S remains a serious challenge, as there has been no real commitment to reparations and truth and reconciliation for people of African descent.” Therefore, though the report is not binding, the implementation of its recommendation will make the change the American ideology that inhibits equality.

Findings and Analysis
The research found that four out the people interviewed said they support the idea that the U.S government owes restitution to Black Americans. Only one disagreed with the report. Those who concurred felt that considering the historical injustices and the current social, political and economic status, Black people were marginalised, mistreated and their rights infringed. As such, there is need to create an atmosphere the government recognise these historical atrocities to shape the future of America as the land of fulfilment of dreams. Two of the four supported the compensation as the form of reparation, one supported compensation and an apology while the other conserved the apology as the adequate. On the other hand, the one participant who disagreed with the recommendation cited that, the natives deserved more than the immigrants. The participants also believed in white superiority over the Blacks and hence, slavery was not only necessary but expedient.

Conclusion
It can be concluded that the U.S government owes compensation and an apology to the Black American people particularly those with who trace their descendants to the times of injustices and slavery. The reparations are not a form of restoration but a way of acceptance to allow reconciliation. The actions will also set as a model to be used social, economic and political spheres for the better racial coexistence and assimilation of immigrants
