Background and aim 精准农业论文作业代写
Spatial prediction and mapping can be used by agronomists and farmers to understand soil, plant growth and yield variability in paddocks. Such maps can be made when there are relatively few data points (<500 e.g., from a collection of soil samples in a paddock) or with more data intensive measurements (e.g., remote sensing, yield monitor on a harvester). The data from several maps of different types (e.g., from grid soil sampling, gamma radiometric and/or yield maps) can then be combined into relatively uniform zones using several techniques (e.g. cluster analysis).
Areas with similar characteristics (e.g., soil characteristics and yield/production etc.) can then be used for taking soil samples and paddock observations to better understand the cause of the variability. The same zones, or new/different zones (e.g., based just on crop yield), may be used to apply different management (called management classes) (e.g., application of an input like phosphorus or lime, spraying of weeds in certain areas, different nitrogen rates aiming for different yield goals etc.).
In this exercise you are given a set of field data for a paddock in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia. Imagine you are an agronomist, and you are given some data (soil analysis and crop yield) for the paddock. The aim of the assignment is to produce a report for the farmer with:
1)
Recommendations on the number and locations of sites within the paddock for further investigation/sampling (based on combining soil and yield data and formulating Potential Management Classes) and what observations/sampling needs to be done (in the upcoming season) to determine the possible causes of yield variability in the paddock; and
2)
Recommendations for variable rate application of phosphorus and potassium in the paddock for wheat crop.
The Report 精准农业论文作业代写
Use literature references where appropriate. See the marking guideline below for allocation of marks/effort. Note that there is no perfect way to do this analysis and it will involve some trial and error – sometimes, the simple solutions work best.
The report should have a maximum of about 3000 words, excluding the title page and attached maps (use size 12 font).
There are two sections:
1) potential management zones for further investigation into the causes of yield variability,
2) variable rate P (based on yield data only) and K (based on soil K levels).
Start each section on a new page. Attach all the relevant maps at the back and refer to all attached maps in the text (Fig 1, Fig 2 etc.). Note that you must be concise in your writing.
The two sections: each section should be in the format of a short paper. 精准农业论文作业代写
Introduction
(must be brief – one paragraph is normally sufficient) – Outline the aim of the section and provide some background to the different data sets you are using in that section.
Methods
– Explain the steps used to derive the various maps (single or combined – which data sets were combined to produce e.g., Potential Management Class (PMC) maps and why, which software etc.) Include enough information so that someone else could repeat what you were doing, without unnecessary detail (you must assume the reader can use the programs i.e., you don’t have to explain all the buttons/you clicked or how a program like QGIS works etc. – just explain what settings you used – e.g., local variogram because >500 data points etc., so that someone could repeat it).
Results and Discussion 精准农业论文作业代写
– Present and discuss the results (i.e., what recommendations you made and what evidence/information was used to make these recommendations (which data/maps you have used and why; you may use other references to the literature, etc.).
Remember to include all figures (maps), label the map captions correctly and refer to the maps/figures in the text. Include any limitations you perceive in your recommendations and highlight any additional information/data that would be useful in improving the recommendations.
Recommendations
– Conclude with a short summary as bullet points of the recommendations/key points.
Marking guide (total 55 marks) 精准农业论文作业代写
Item Marking guide Mark allocation
Section 1 Potential Management Classes (25 marks)
Introduction Briefly describes the aim of the section and provide some background to the different data sets used in the section. 1
Materials and Methods Explains the steps used to derive the various maps. Includes enough information so that someone could repeat the process (e.g. the models and associated parameters used), without unnecessary detail (especially no need for details of how to use the program). 4
Results and discussion Correct maps produced. Clearly and concisely describes the results and refers to the appropriate figs (maps). Includes some discussion (critical evaluation) of implications of the results (i.e. leading to the recommendations) and any perceived issues/weaknesses in the data/analysis or recommendations. 18
Recommendations All recommendations are clearly articulated in bullet points 2
Section 2 Prescription maps variable rate P & K (25 marks) 精准农业论文作业代写
Introduction As described above 1
Materials and Methods 4
Results and discussion 18
Recommendations 2
Overall report (5 marks)
Overall map presentation, captions, legend etc. Separate title page with short descriptive title and author details (can include photo relevant to the report). Produces maps that are high quality – easily legible and have all the required features. 3
Writing Good writing style, correct grammar, referencing style, no typos or incorrect spelling 1
Structure and flow of ideas Has a logical flow of ideas that is easy to follow 1
