Methodology

The usability test used an experimental research design. Collection and analysis of data were done through direct observation and experimentations as well as a survey. A structured questionnaire was given to the participants. Descriptive data analysis was used to find the meaning of the data collected. The target population was young people aged 20 years and below in my neighborhood. The samples were randomly selected. The participants were 1 female and 2 males. The tasks of testing the usability of the microwave were assigned to three participants. The experiment took place in a home kitchen with one microwave and was supervised by one observer and one moderator. Each participant undertook the task of tests each at a time.

All participants were not able to know that they had to first set time before setting the power level. Instead, they continuously pressed the power level button, which did not work. Implication, recommendation and follow-on research

The usability test using a small sample of my neighborhood was enough to indicate that microwave devices require improvement of their user interface design. Task 3 was the most challenging for users. All users took countless time, and steps to complete task 3, and they all gave up. The power level values numeric units confused because food usually has a specific power level from high to medium. Users may not understand which units are high and low. The power level set up for task 3 could be high, medium, or low. Therefore, based on the data, I can recommend that users be allowed to set power levels directly before setting time rather than having to set time first then power level. A further usability survey research can be conducted to find out the usability issues that people face when using a microwave.可用性测试essay代写
