Anything that connects the world globally, even value chain systems, can be seen as being part of the global information system.

Spatial features are stored in a system that is highly coordinated and thus can pin point any information required, and the data can even be layered with the objective of mapping a place and analyzing it. Components of global information systems
There are five different components of information system which are used globally. They are mentioned below in order:
- Computer Hardware
- Computer Software
- Telecommunications
- Database and data warehouses
- Human Resources and procedures

These days, with the technological advancements taking place, information sharing has become much easier. However, the trick is how to make use of the widely available information. Not only that, it can also be noted that the five components mentioned above are the key elements which complete the global information system. Computer Hardware consists of all physical technology which stores information, whereas, computer software is the supporting component, in which the system software is used for storing and disseminating information. The digital era has seen rise in the technologies that are being used in global information system. Some trends in the information technology, that are expected to increase in demand include, Cloud Computing, Mobile Applications, Tools for analytics, and improved user interfaces. With a high demand of smartphones, it is expected that the technology that is linked with it is expected to increase, along with the demand for AI.
